Who would want to work in a start-up! Why cyber start-ups offer a true ‘entry-level’ path into cyber
Synopsis
More and more ‘entry level’ cyber roles are not entry level at all. You only need to follow a half a dozen cyber recruiters on LinkedIn to see all the posts that reflect that. Since when did 3 years experience and already having a few certs under the belt constitute ‘entry level’?
The war for talent is real, and also the competitive landscape for cyber consulting is dynamic and getting harder. More than ever, part of our differentiation to clients is the depth of experience across the board for our teams.
So with that dynamic, how do we create entry level paths for people to cut their teeth in cyber?
Now I know that there are a myriad of intern and graduate programs across the large consulting firms, into the big listed companies like banks and healthcare, and also at the highly desirable Big Tech companies like Canva, Atlassian etc. These are all great.
But, I truly believe that Founders of Start-ups have a key role to play here, that can be a win win for both an early stage business and for candidates looking to stress test just whether cyber is the place they want to carve out a name for themselves. I also think that for the right person, it can be the start of something amazing and entrepreneurial. It just involves everyone to carry a bit more risk, investing some time and be really clear about things up front. But remember, great things don't happen in your comfort zone!
This session will present the business case to both Founders and candidates alike, on why cyber start-ups are a very real part of the growth of Cyber talent in Australia.
It is designed to be an engaging and interactive session, with plenty of ground covered on what is proving to be a highly important topic for cyber workforce development in the Australian business landscape.
