Foreign intelligence techniques and the physical and personnel security response for cyber and security professionals
Synopsis
The presentation seeks to highlight the growing threats posed by Foreign Intelligence Entities (FIEs) and the critical role that robust Physical and Personnel Security controls play in mitigating these risks. FIEs actively target organizations to steal sensitive data, disrupt operations, or gain strategic advantages, often exploiting vulnerabilities in access controls, insider threats, and human complacency. To counter this, organisations must enforce strict access controls, conduct thorough background screenings, implement continuous personnel monitoring, and foster a strong security culture through regular training and awareness programs. Physical security measures such as surveillance systems, intrusion detection, and secure access points must also be rigorously maintained to prevent unauthorized entry and safeguard critical assets. By integrating these controls and maintaining a proactive security posture, we can strengthen our defences against espionage and insider threats, ensuring the protection of our people, infrastructure, and sensitive information.
