Deep Fake it until you make it - Social engineering in the modern age
James Anderson
Synopsis
Attackers are increasingly leveraging sophisticated deep fake techniques to generate convincing synthetic media for malicious purposes, including email content, cloned audio for voice phishing, and manipulated conversation AI interactions.
This presentation will abstract the underlying methods employed in these attacks, highlighting how they can be used to forge believable communications, bypass security measures, and deceive targets at scale.
The presentation covers details from an attacker's perspective on how they use LLM and GenAI models to create deepfake audio and videos for malicious purposes. This cover voice cloning, GenAI bots, face swap and generated content and techniques that can be used from an offensive perspective. Furthermore, we also explore the defensive techniques in how to spot generated content and the means to limit the attackers for an organisation.
