Crisis management and the evolution of the resilience mindset

The shift from traditional crisis management to broader, operational resilience has been a few years in the making. With the DORA standard coming into compliance in the EU (Jan 2025) and CPS230 in Australia (July 2025), financial services organizations face new compliance demands.

Many organisations felt the years of traditional crisis management planning stood them in good stead to prepare for a standard that was just an extension of what they already do to prepare, test and plan for any disaster. Yet, the lens of customer and market impact forced them to look horizontally at services across the organization to really understand the criticality of their enterprise operations. While the Cyber security team were used to thinking in terms of crisis management, the rest of the organization had to adapt to this way of thinking. This presentation aims to explore the shift in thinking to the resilience mindset.
